Summary of findings and the proposed mechanism. TC-G 1008 is a small molecule agonist at GPR39 [28]. GPR39 interacts physically with the serotonin 5-HT1A receptor [78]. TC-G 1008 also binds to the 5-HT1A receptor [29]. a We found that TC-G 1008 facilitated PTZ-epileptogenesis in vivo by acting selectively at GPR39. However, it increased the activation of CREB in the hippocampus of kindled GPR39 KO mice. b Our data showed that TC-G 1008 acts at GPR39 and other targets, presumably the 5-HT1A receptor.
