Images show superimposition of widefield epifluorescence for detection of GFP (maximum intensity projections of all z-planes encompassing the pineal complex), and transmitted light DIC images for chromogenic TUNEL stain (minimum intensity projection of all z-planes encompassing the pineal complex). Apoptosis in the pineal complex is low in both wildtype and bsx mutant embryos (n≥2 for all stages and genotypes).
