Loss of germ cells in ziwi mutants
Detection of germ cells during development. Gonads from wild-type (A, C, E) and ziwi(fh219/221) transheterozygous fish (B,D,F) stained for vasa RNA to identify germ cells. 15 dpf (A,B), 20 dpf (C,D) and 30 dpf (E,F). In D, gonad arms are outlined and arrow points to a small patch of vasa positive cells. Arrows in F point to gonad arms. sb= swim bladder. Scale bars= 100μm in A (for A,B), C (for C,D) and E (for E,F).
