piRNA Northern blots
(A) Specific signal in ovary and testis using different probes for piRNAs.
(B) Total RNA was treated with RNase A or DNase I. Top panel: SYBRGold staining shows specific breakdown of piRNAs by RNase A and not by DNase I. This was confirmed by Northern blotting (Lower two panels). No piRNAs and miRNAs could be detected when the sample was treated with RNase, whereas these RNAs are still present after DNase I treatment.
