STATEMENT OF RESEARCH INTERESTS
The focus of the research in the lab is maternal regulation in vertebrates, and in particular, the regulation of translation in zebrafish oocytes and embryos. The mechanism of translational regulation being investigated is cytoplasmic polyadenylation. To that end we are investigating maternal mRNAs regulated by this process, the mechanism of polyadenylation, the genetics of cytoplasmic polyadenylation, and the roles of proteins whose messages are regulated by this process.
