Definition
The second pharyngeal arch, also known as the hyoid arch, forms jaw support structures. Anteriorly positioned cranial neural crest cells, which align with rhombomeres 4/5, contribute to the hyoid arch structures including the ceratohyal and hyosymplectic cartilages. (3)
