Experiment Conditions Description: organ culture: testis, chemical treatment by environment: Follicle stimulating hormone
organ culture: testis
Name: organ culture
Synonyms:
Definition: In vitro culture condition in which an organ is dissected/isolated/collected from the fish and placed in culture. The analysis of the experiment is done on this organ in culture.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000144]
Name: testis
Synonyms: testes
Definition: Male reproductive organ. Adult zebrafish testes are paired organs forming elongated structures, internally organized into tubules. These tubules are formed by seminiferous epithelium containing cysts of spermatogonia and spermatocytes surrounded by somatic support cells, called Sertoli cells. Cysts are arranged around a lumen containing spermatozoa that is connected to the efferent ducts. The interstitial regions between the tubules contain the steroid-producing Leydig cells, connective tissue, and blood vessels.

chemical treatment by environment: Follicle stimulating hormone
Name: chemical treatment by environment
Synonyms:
Definition: Chemical treatment condition in which the chemical is introduced through the environment. For zebrafish this is the tank water.
