Experiment Conditions Description: transection: Mauthner neuron, chemical treatment by environment: ronidazole
transection: Mauthner neuron
Name: transection
Synonyms:
Definition: Cutting transversly of an organ or tissue. Type of cutting often used to divide the spinal cord to investigate neural regeneration in zebrafish.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000181]
Name: Mauthner neuron
Synonyms:
Definition: Is a hindbrain interneuron. Giant reticulospinal neurons possessing thick crossed axons and positioned dorsally in the hindbrain tegmentum at the level of entrance of the eighth cranial nerve. The Mauthner neuron is paired. The M-cell has two large invariant dendrites: The lateral dendrite terminates in the sensory neuropil of the acoustico-lateral area, and the ventral dendrite terminates in the neuropil of the motor tegmentum. Fine dendrites are present, and mostly arise from three regions; from the terminus of each major dendrite and from the ventral surface of the perikaryon.

chemical treatment by environment: ronidazole
Name: chemical treatment by environment
Synonyms:
Definition: Chemical treatment condition in which the chemical is introduced through the environment. For zebrafish this is the tank water.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000238]
Name: ronidazole
Synonyms: (1-methyl-5-nitro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)methyl carbamate, 1-methyl-5-nitro-1H-imidazole-2-methanol carbamate ester, carbamic acid (1-methyl-5-nitro-2-imidazolyl)methyl ester, ronidazol, ronidazole, ronidazolum
Definition: A carbamate ester that is 5-nitroimidazole in which the hydrogens at positions 1 and 2 are replaced by methyl and (carbamoyloxy)methyl groups, respectively. An antiprotozoal agent, it is used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of histomoniasis and swine dysentery.
