Biography and Research Interest

Several mutants exhibiting alterations in the general architecture of the eye were found during the Tübingen 2000 screen. Currently some of the relevant genes are being positionally cloned and characterized at the molecular level. This classical forward genetics approach would provide information about:

1. Activators of the master control genes during eye development.

2. Diversification of developmental pathways during vertebrate evolution.

3. Developmental mechanisms controlling the general architecture of the eye.
