Fig. 6 Diagram illustrating the effect of increasing the duration of analysis on the quantitation of endothelial cell proliferation. The PCNA approach uses a small (instantaneous) detection window, thus rarely detects proliferation events. EdU is more likely to detect proliferation but the window of detection remains too small to capture many events. Time-lapse imaging covers a much greater window of time and can therefore detect significantly more proliferation events.
