Definition:	A protein that is a translation product of the human VPREB1 gene or a 1:1 ortholog thereof. The gene is recently and independently duplicated in mouse and rabbit, giving rise to very closely related VPREB2 genes in those species. The protein associates with the Ig-mu chain to form a molecular complex that is expressed only on the surface of pre-B-cells.
