Definition: | A very long-chain primary fatty alcohol that is tetracosane in which a hydrogen attached to one of the terminal carbons is replaced by a hydroxy group. It has been isolated from a variety of plants, including grape seeds, evening primrose (Oenothera biennis), pitaya fruits (Hylocereus polyrhizus and Hylocereus undatus), and the flowers of Arabian jasmine (Jasminum sambac). |
