Experiment Conditions Description: chemical ablation: cardiac ventricle, chemical treatment by environment: blebbistatin, chemical treatment by environment: metronidazole
chemical ablation: cardiac ventricle
Name: chemical ablation
Synonyms:
Definition: Experimental condition which uses a chemical to ablate an anatomical structure or cell.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000169]
Name: cardiac ventricle
Synonyms: ventricle
Definition: Cavitated compound organ that receives blood flow from the atrium and delivers blood to the body via the aorta. Valves are present to direct flow. There are only two chambers present in the fish heart.
Ontology: Anatomy Ontology [ZFA:0000009]
chemical treatment by environment: blebbistatin
Name: chemical treatment by environment
Synonyms:
Definition: Chemical treatment condition in which the chemical is introduced through the environment. For zebrafish this is the tank water.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000238]
Name: blebbistatin
Synonyms: (+/-)-blebbistatin, 3a-hydroxy-6-methyl-1-phenyl-1,2,3,3a-tetrahydro-4H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]quinolin-4-one
Definition: A pyrroloquinoline that is 1,2,3,3a-tetrahydro-H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]quinolin-4-one substituted by a hydroxy group at position 3a, a methyl group at position 6 and a phenyl group at position 1. It acts as an inhibitor of ATPase activity of non-muscle myosin II.

chemical treatment by environment: metronidazole
Name: chemical treatment by environment
Synonyms:
Definition: Chemical treatment condition in which the chemical is introduced through the environment. For zebrafish this is the tank water.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000238]
Name: metronidazole
Synonyms: 1-(2-hydroxy-1-ethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 1-(beta-ethylol)-2-methyl-5-nitro-3-azapyrrole, 1-(beta-hydroxyethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 1-(beta-oxyethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 2-(2-methyl-5-nitro-1H-imidazol-1-yl)ethanol, 2-methyl-1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-5-nitroimidazole, 2-methyl-3-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4-nitroimidazole, 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole-1-ethanol, metronidazol, metronidazole, metronidazolum
Definition: A member of the class of imidazoles substituted at C-1, -2 and -5 with 2-hydroxyethyl, nitro and methyl groups respectively. It has activity against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, and has a radiosensitising effect on hypoxic tumour cells. It may be given by mouth in tablets, or as the benzoate in an oral suspension. The hydrochloride salt can be used in intravenous infusions. Metronidazole is a prodrug and is selective for anaerobic bacteria due to their ability to intracellularly reduce the nitro group of metronidazole to give nitroso-containing intermediates. These can covalently bind to DNA, disrupting its helical structure, inducing DNA strand breaks and inhibiting bacterial nucleic acid synthesis, ultimately resulting in bacterial cell death.
